AGREEMENT relating to the Implementation of Part XI OF THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE LAW OF THE SEA OF 10 DECEMBER 1982

The primary purpose of this final round of consultations was the harmonization of the text in the various language versions of the draft resolution and draft Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is a concrete and successful outcome of the Secretary-General's initiative.

It will also be my privilege on 29 July 1994 to sign, on behalf of my Government, the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982.

First, everyone is aware that those consultations, whose purpose was to promote what has come to be called universal participation in the Convention, were actually meant to address the concerns of certain States with respect to the deep-seabed mining regime; they resulted in the draft Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the Convention.
أولا: يدرك الجميع أن هذه المشاورات، التي كانت ترمي إلى تشجيع ما أصبح يدعى بالمشاركة العالمية في الاتفاقية، كان يقصد بها في واقع اﻷمر تلبية شواغل بعض الدول إزاء نظام التعدين في قاع البحار العميق؛ وقد أدت إلى إعداد مشروع اتفاق بشأن تنفيذ الجزء الحادي عشر من الاتفاقية.

In adopting the draft resolution, the General Assembly would also adopt the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982, which is appended to it.
وباعتماد الجمعية لمشروع القرار ستعتمد أيضا الاتفاق بشأن تنفيذ الجزء الحادي عشر من اتفاقية اﻷمم المتحدة لقانون البحار المؤرخة في ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٨٢، الملحق به.

The State of Kuwait is fully committed to the issue of oceans and the law of the sea and acceded to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1986 and to several other conventions, including, in 2002 the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
وإيمانا من دولة الكويت بأهمية موضوع المحيطات وقانون البحار، انضمت الكويت إلى اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار في عام 1986، وإلى عدة اتفاقيات أخرى، منها الاتفاق بشأن تنفيذ الجزء الحادي عشر من اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار في عام 2002.
