The Special Committee is currently composed of 17 Member States. It has a working group and two subcommittees, the Subcommittee on the Implementation of the United Nations Resolutions on South Africa and the Subcommittee on Developments in South Africa.

I have the honour to transmit to you herewith a declaration by the European Union on South Africa, issued on 6 May 1994.

In line with the intent and purpose of the General Assembly's consensus resolution on South Africa, UNFPA has not developed operational activities in the country yet.
