The Committee also had before it a draft convention on the suppression of acts of nuclear terrorism submitted by the Russian Federation (A/AC.252/L.3).

His delegation was pleased to note that, as a result of the hard work of the Ad Hoc Committee and the Working Group of the Sixth Committee, significant progress had been achieved in only four weeks in elaborating a draft Convention on the suppression of acts of Nuclear Terrorism, even though, unfortunately, it had not been possible to resolve the issue of the draft Convention’s applicability to military activities.
١٩ - وقال إن من دواعي سرور وفده أنه بفضل العمل الدؤوب للجنة المخصصة والفريق العامل التابعين للجنة السادسة، أحرز تقدم ملموس في ظرف أربعة أسابيع في وضع مشروع اتفاقية بشأن قمع أعمال الإرهاب النووي، على الرغم من أنه تعذر للأسف حل مسألة سريان مشروع الاتفاقية على الأنشطة العسكرية.

5. At the Council's extraordinary session, held from 21 October to 7 November 2003, two draft ordinances were adopted, on the suppression of acts of destruction, degradation and looting, and on the illegal possession and use of firearms.
5 - وقد اعتمد المجلس الوطني الانتقالي، أثناء دورته الاستثنائية المنعقدة في الفترة من 21 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر إلى 7 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2003، مشروعي قانونين، بشأن قمع أعمال التخريب والإتلاف والنهب فضلا عن حيازة الأسلحة النارية غير المشروعة واستخدامها.

In preambular paragraph (g) of that resolution the General Conference noted that the United Nations General Assembly is continuing its elaboration of an international convention on the suppression of acts of nuclear terrorism.

His delegation attached the highest priority to the conclusion of a convention on international terrorism and was conscious of the need to achieve consensus on outstanding issues in respect of draft articles 1 and 18. It also favoured the early adoption of a draft convention on the suppression of acts of nuclear terrorism.
68 - وخلص إلى القول بأن وفده يولي أسبق الأولويات إلى عقد اتفاقية بشأن الإرهاب الدولي وهو على بينة من الحاجة لتحقيق توافق بين الآراء بشأن القضايا المعلقة فيما يتصل بمشاريع المادتين 1 و 18 ويحبذ الاعتماد المبكر لمشروع اتفاقية بشأن قمع أعمال الإرهاب النووي.
