Recognizing the desire of the sponsors of the draft resolution to strengthen respect for human rights, her delegation had put forward several proposals aimed at reconciling the various points of view on the question of the death penalty.
وأضافت أن الوفد اللبناني إذ يُقر بعزم مقدمي مشروع القرار على تعزيز احترام حقوق الإنسان، قد صاغ عدة مقترحات هادفة إلى التوفيق بين وجهات النظر المختلفة بشأن مسألة عقوبة الإعدام.

1. The Secretary-General submitted to the Commission on Human Rights an annual report on the question of the death penalty.
1- قدَّم الأمين العام إلى لجنة حقوق الإنسان تقريراً سنوياً بشأن مسألة عقوبة الإعدام.

In doing so, it recalled " the important results accomplished by the former Commission on Human Rights on the question of the death penalty " and envisaged " that the Human Rights Council could continue to work on this issue " .

However, any definitive outcome on the issue of capital punishment would be guided by public consultations and the consensus of Parliament.
