At its fifty-second session,179 the General Assembly, inter alia, resolved that the Secretary-General should report to the Advisory Committee and to the Assembly at its fifty-third and fifty-fourth sessions all commitments made under the provisions of the resolution, together with the circumstances relating thereto, and should submit supplementary estimates to the Assembly in respect of such commitments (resolution 52/223).

At the same session, the General Assembly resolved that the Secretary-General should report to the Advisory Committee and to the General Assembly at its sixty-first and sixty-second sessions all commitments made under the provisions of the resolution, together with the circumstances relating thereto, and should submit supplementary estimates to the Assembly in respect of such commitments (resolution 60/249).

It is the Chair's understanding that discussions on each of these issues should proceed in the context of further commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol and should contribute to reaching an agreement on these commitments by the end of 2009.
