5. In spite of this progress, some parts of Africa continue to endure armed conflict, fragility, erosion of the rule of law and chronic poverty, with women and children bearing the brunt of those challenges.

On the other hand, some researchers have concluded that, under certain conditions, compost from household and farm waste in some parts of Africa has been more effective in raising smallholder farmers' crop yields than chemical fertilizers.

55 - وقدمت جامعة براهما كوماريس الروحية العالمية معلومات بشأن استحداث مبادرة بعنوان " أوبونتو: إيقاظ الروح الإنسانية " ، والتي تتكون من سلسلة من المناظرات وحلقات العمل بشأن القِيم الثقافية والروحية التي تناسب طريقة الحياة التي يطلق عليها في بعض أنحاء أفريقيا " أوبونتو " .

His delegation was also encouraged by the practical steps taken by the sanctions committees to implement the recommendations contained in paragraph 5 of General Assembly resolution 54/107, especially in relation to the sanctions regimes prevailing in some parts of Africa and to efforts to establish channels of communication with regional and subregional organizations.
وأضاف أن وفد بلده يجد ما يدعو إلى التشجيع أيضا في الخطوات العملية التي اتخذتها اللجان المعنية بالجزاءات لتنفيذ التوصيات الواردة في الفقرة 5 من قرار الجمعية العامة 54/107، ولاسيما فيما يتعلق بنُظُم الجزاءات السائدة في بعض أنحاء أفريقيا وبالجهود الرامية إلى إقامة قنوات اتصال مع المنظمات الإقليمية ودون الإقليمية.
