1. At the invitation of the Indian Government, the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance visited India from 2 to 14 December 1996 in accordance with his mandate.
١- بناء على دعوة من الحكومة الهندية قام المقرر الخاص المعني بمسألة التعصب الديني بزيارة إلى الهند في الفترة من ٢ إلى ٤١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٦٩٩١، في إطار ولايته.

Taking note of General Assembly resolution 49/188 of 23 December 1994, in which it requested the Commission on Human Rights to continue its consideration of measures to implement the Declaration and requested the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance to submit an interim report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session,

In his 1996 report on the Islamic Republic of Iran (E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2/para. 116), the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance concluded:

267. The attention of the Sub—Commission is drawn to Commission on Human Rights resolution 1997/18, in which the Commission took note of the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on the question of religious intolerance (E/CN.4/1997/91 and Add.1).

Having examined the reports of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (E/CN.4/1994/27), the Special Rapporteur on the question of torture (E/CN.4/1994/31), and the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance (E/CN.4/1994/71 and Add.1),

Furthermore, when considering the actions and positions of the Holy See as those of a " country " , it is important to consider the complete role of the Holy See in the international arena as both a religion and a State, as Abdelfattah Amor, Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the question of religious intolerance, has recognized.

Having examined the reports of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (E/CN.4/1995/31 and Add.1-2), the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance (E/CN.4/1995/91) and the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions (E/CN.4/1995/61),

The Committee then engaged in a dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance, in which the representatives of Armenia, Bangladesh, France (on behalf of the European Union), Nigeria, the Libyan Arab Jamahariya, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Tunisia, Turkey, China, Egypt and Iraq took part.
