There is growing attention to Sexual Violence in the country, with a strong focus on quantitative data and statistics as the main basis for policymaking and limited attention paid to subjective perception of the phenomenon.

The Group is encouraged by the Comprehensive Strategy on Combating Sexual Violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, prepared by the Office of the Senior Adviser and Coordinator for Sexual Violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which recommends the streamlining of coordination mechanisms including in the data collection phase.
ويجد الفريق تشجيعا في الاستراتيجية الشاملة لمكافحة العنف الجنسي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية التي أعدها مكتب المستشار الأقدم والمنسّق المعني بمسألة العنف الجنسي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، والتي توصي بتبسيط آليات التنسيق، وخاصة في مرحلة جمع البيانات.

OHCHR-Colombia suggests that the Government extend an invitation to this Special Rapporteur, as well as to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in conflict, to assess compliance with the recommendations formulated in 2001 and to receive new recommendations that contribute to the full realization of the human rights of women.

On the issue of Sexual Violence in conflict, the Council has the opportunity to assert itself, to demonstrate that disunity does not define it, and to act decisively to sanction perpetrators, to refer cases to the International Criminal Court, to mandate commissions of inquiry and to condemn violations explicitly in resolutions and statements.

In a very positive development, on 30 March 2012, the Prime Minister and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict signed a joint communiqué, which contained a list of the commitments made by the Government to tackle sexual violence, including the need to establish effective mechanisms to protect against Sexual Violence in conflict situations.
