Regional processes, such as the Amazon Cooperation Treaty, provide a valuable mechanism for exchanging information, experiences and lessons learned regarding the proposals for action and for improving implementation.

35. The limited number of national reports submitted, particularly by developing countries, partially reflects a lack of knowledge regarding the proposals for action.

Some experts said that it was important to raise awareness of the IPF/IFF proposals for action among stakeholders and countries and reference was made to tools for country assessment.

In the recommendations that emerged from the Expert Meeting on Traditional Forest-Related Knowledge and the Implementation of Related International Commitments, there were a number of very strong thematic recommendations which tie directly into the proposals for action already before the United Nations Forum on Forests and collaborating States.
