37. The Advisory Committee, however, recommended deferring a decision on the introduction of the special operations approach for non-family duty stations in order to allow sufficient time for the improvements associated with the implementation of streamlined contractual arrangements to take effect.

25. The preparations for the introduction of the special operations approach for the non-family duty stations indicated in paragraph 17 would commence immediately upon approval by the Assembly of the Secretary-General's proposals and the recommendation of the International Civil Service Commission.

According to the Secretary-General, this is pursuant to General Assembly resolution 63/250, by which the Assembly decided that all staff appointed or assigned to a nonfamily mission should be installed in accordance with the conditions of the United Nations common system, without the special operations approach, effective 1 July 2009.
