My delegation would like to join wholeheartedly with others in the words of appreciation that have been directed to you and we have, for our part, been very thankful for the fairness with which you have conducted our negotiations as well as the motivation you have shown, without which, I think, various points of view could not have been joined and moral authority, in difficult times, be listened to.
ويود وفدي بكل اﻹخلاص أن يشاطر اﻵخرين فيما أبدوه من كلمات التقدير التي وجهت اليكم، وأن يعبر من جانبه عن شكره العميق على ما تحليتم به من نزاهة في إدارة مفاوضاتنا، وعلى حميتكم التي أبديتموها ولم يكن بالمستطاع بدونها، على ما نرى، التوفيق بين مختلف وجهات النظر والالتزام باﻷخلاق الحميدة في اﻷوقات الصعبة.

Let me state from the outset how grateful we have been to the OAU heads of State and Government comprising the High-level Delegation, the Secretary-General of OAU, Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim, and the secretariat of the Organization for the firm position that they have taken on matters of principle and for the fairness and the sense of responsibility that they brought to bear on this very complex task that was entrusted to them.
واسمحوا لي بأن أعرب بادئ ذي بدء عن مدى امتناننا لرؤساء دول وحكومات منظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية الذين تكون منهم الوفد الرفيع المستوى، وكذلك لﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية، الدكتور سالم أحمد سالم، وأمانة المنظمة على الموقف الحازم الذي اتخذوه بشأن المسائل المتعلقة بالمبادئ، ولما اتسموا به من نزاهة وروح المسؤولية في معالجتهم لتلك المهمة المعقدة جدا التي اسندت إليهم.
