That observation was attributed to the high fertility rate among Palestinian women, relatively early marriage and large families.
وكان مرد هذه الملاحظة ارتفاع معدل الخصوبة بين النساء الفلسطينيات وزواجهن المبكر نسبيا وكذا كبر حجم الأسر.

In that context she noted that inadequate medical care during pregnancy was the third cause of mortality among Palestinian women of reproductive age; 18,000 of the 117,000 pregnant women in the occupied Palestinian territory would suffer poor pregnancy outcomes due to the lack of adequate health care.

Despite those similarities, the labour force in East Jerusalem has two unique characteristics, namely the higher rate of full-time employment (84 per cent compared to 70 per cent in the OPT in 2009), and the relatively low unemployment rate among Palestinian women in Jerusalem compared to the West Bank, which stands at 13.5 and 18.8 per cent respectively.
