The operational policies and guidelines referred to in paragraph 6 (a) above will be used, in accordance with decision 1/CMP.3, paragraph 5 (c), as the basis for developing modalities in the operation of the Adaptation Fund to ensure the capacity of executing entities to implement the administrative and financial management guidelines developed by the Adaptation Fund Board;

In addition, Parties may also wish to consider, in accordance with the conclusions of SBSTA 28, providing any relevant information and advice, as appropriate, to the AWG-LCA, with a view to providing input to discussions on enhanced action on adaptation as envisaged in decision 1/CP.13, paragraph 1 (c), and to the Adaptation Fund Board, if requested, with a view to facilitating the operation of the Adaptation Fund.

At its 9th meeting, on 9 - 10 December, the COP/MOP, acting upon a recommendation by the SBI, adopted decision 28/CMP.1 entitled " Initial guidance to an entity entrusted with the operation of the financial mechanism of the Convention, for the operation of the Adaptation Fund " (FCCC/KP/CMP/2005/8/Add.4).
