The Committee decided to entrust the Rapporteur on follow-up to concluding observations to remind States parties, between sessions, of the requirement to submit, within one year, information on the measures taken to implement the concluding observations that the committee considered to be of priority.

What happens if after such a review the State does not change the norm? Clearly, a norm that is considered by the Committee to be incompatible with the Covenant will remain in force.

18. The Committee also notes that family reunification is not authorized immediately for foreign workers who settle in Switzerland, but only after 18 months, which, in the Committee's view, is too long a period for the foreign worker to be separated from his family.
٨١- وتلاحظ اللجنة أيضاً أن جمع شمل اﻷسرة لا يمنح مباشرة للعاملين اﻷجانب المقيمين في سويسرا، وإنما يمنح بعد فترة ٨١ شهراً، وهي فترة تعتبرها اللجنة طويلة للغاية ويفرض خلالها على العامل اﻷجنبي أن يعيش منفصلاً عن أسرته.

One representative said that it was necessary to clarify the meaning of the term " urgent and important " as used in rule 5 of the draft rules of procedure, which provided that only items that the intergovernmental negotiating committee considered to be urgent and important could be added to the agenda for a session of the committee during the session.
