The draft resolution would also have the General Assembly appeal to regional Member States, international, governmental and non-governmental organizations and foundations either to make or to increase their voluntary contributions so as to strengthen the Regional Centre and thus facilitate the implementation of its programme of activities.

By paragraphs 9 and 10 of the resolution, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to provide the Regional Centre with all necessary support, within existing resources, so that it might carry out its programme of activities in accordance with its mandate, and to report to the General Assembly at its fifty-ninth session on the implementation of the resolution.

The Secretary-General wishes to thank those Member States that have made contributions to the Centre and reiterates his appeal to Member States, as well as to intergovernmental organizations and foundations, to make voluntary contributions to revitalize the Centre and facilitate the implementation of its programme of activities. ويرغب الأمين العام في أن يعرب عن شكره للدول الأعضاء التي قدمت تبرعات للمركز ويكرر تأكيد ندائه للدول الأعضاء، وكذلك إلى المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمؤسسات، لتقديم تبرعات لإعادة تنشيط المركز بغرض تيسير تنفيذ برنامج أنشطته.
