The third Global Environment Outlook report was issued in May 2002, and the next report is planned for release in 2007.
وقد صدر في أيار/مايو 2002 تقرير توقّعات البيئة العالمية الثالث، ومن المخطط إصدار التقرير الرابع عام 2007.

The present report sets out the findings of the fourth Global Environment Outlook: environment for development report (GEO-4).
يعرض هذا التقرير النتائج التي خلص إليها التقرير الرابع عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية: البيئة من أجل التنمية (GEO-4).

The preparation of future global GEO reports will build upon the successes of GEO-4 as well other assessment processes.

Noting that the most important relevant documents, notably the findings of the fourth Global Environment Outlook report and the proposed Mid-term Strategy, had already been described in detail during the morning plenary session, he focused on the context of, and challenges related to, the sub-items on the state of the environment and environment and development.
وبعد أن أشار ممثل الأمانة إلى أنّ الجلسة العامة الصباحية كانت قد تناولت بالوصف المفصّل أهمّ وثيقتين، أي نتائج التقرير الرابع عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية والاستراتيجية المتوسطة الأجل المقترحة، ركّز على السياق والتحديات المتعلّقة بالبندين الفرعيين المعنيين بحالة البيئة والبيئة والتنمية.

In February 2004, an intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder consultation on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP, which involved more than 100 Governments and 50 partner organizations, identified needs and options to achieve this, including a further strengthening of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) process (See http://www.unep.org/scienceinitiative/).

Welcomes the enhanced policy relevance of the Global Environment Outlook as a result of its identifying policy options, taking into account different approaches and visions to achieve sustainable development, and making every effort to accelerate the achievement of the internationally agreed goals, including through informing relevant global and regional processes;

The scope and objectives of the fifth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-5) report will be developed in consultation with Governments, the scientific community, the private sector and civil society in the wake of a comprehensive review of the GEO-4 report.
وسوف يُطوّر نطاق وأهداف التقرير الخامس عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية-5 (GEO-5) بالتشاور مع الحكومات والوسط العلمي والقطاع الخاص والمجتمع المدني، عقب إجراء استعراض شامل للتقرير الرابع (GEO-4) عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية.

Welcoming with appreciation the presentation by the Executive Director of the findings of the fourth Global Environment Outlook report and the in-kind contribution from experts, Governments, United Nations bodies, collaborating centres, the private sector and civil society in promoting the consultative and capacitybuilding process underpinning the assessment,

The fourth assessment, Global Environment Outlook: environment for development (GEO4), is the result of the most comprehensive GEO process to date as called for in Governing Council decision 22/1 of 7 February 2003.
والتقرير الرابع عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية: البيئة من أجل التنمية (GEO-4) هو نتيجة لأشمل عملية إعداد وتقييم لهذه التوقّعات حتى هذا التاريخ، حسبما دعا إليه المقرّر 22/1 الصادر عن مجلس الإدارة في 7 شباط/فبراير 2003.

The fourth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-4) assessment report highlights the interlinkages between environmental change and development, emphasizing the strategic need for adaptive, legal, institutional and market frameworks which can respond to environmental change and its impacts on development and human well-being.
24- يسلّط التقريرُ الرابع عن تقييم توقّعات البيئة العالمية (GEO-4) الضوءَ على الروابط بين التغيّر البيئي والتنمية، مع التأكيد على الضرورة الاستراتيجية إلى أُطر عمل تكيّفية وقانونية ودولية وسوقية تمكّن من الاستجابة في التصدّي للتغيّر البيئي ووطأة تأثيراته على التنمية ورفاه الإنسان.

Recommends that the Executive Director submit the summary for decision makers of the fourth Global Environment Outlook report to the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum at its tenth session for its consideration and agreement on follow-up action to be taken by the United Nations Environment Programme in its Medium-term Strategy and on the budget and programme of work.
4- نوصي بأن يقدّم المدير التنفيذي الموجزَ الموجَّه إلى صُنّاع القرار عن التقرير الرابع عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية إلى مجلس الإدارة/المنتدى البيئي الوزاري العالمي إبّان دورته العاشرة للنظر فيه والاتفاق على إجراءات المتابعة المراد أن يتّخذها برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة في إطار استراتيجيته المتوسطة الأجل وكذلك بشأن الميزانية وبرنامج العمل.

52. Ms. Castaño (Director, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) office at United Nations Headquarters in New York), introducing the report of the twenty-fourth session of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environmental Forum (A/62/25), said that the fourth Global Environment Outlook report underlined the intricate links between human activities and the environment and, in that respect, the need for sustainable development.
52 - السيدة كاستانيو (مديرة مكتب برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة في مقر الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك): عرضت تقرير الدورة الرابعة والعشرين لمجلس إدارة/المنتدى البيئي الوزاري العالمي (A/62/25). فقالت إن التقرير عن توقّعات البيئة العالمية يؤكّد وجود صلات معقدة بين الأنشطة البشرية والبيئة، وفي هذا الصدد، يؤكّد على الحاجة إلى التنمية المستدامة.

C. Initiating consultations on future global GEO series
