The Special Rapporteur received a negative response to his question on whether the 1995 and 1996 resolutions by the General Assembly and the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Sudan had been discussed by the Committee.

This visit had two aims, beside the traditional investigation, verification and discussion of reports on violations of human rights with the competent authorities of the Government of the Sudan in the framework of the resolutions by the General Assembly and the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Sudan since 1992.
وكان لهذه الزيارة هدفان، إلى جانب التحري التقليدي، والتحقق من التقارير التي تفيد بحدوث انتهاكات لحقوق الانسان، ومناقشة تلك التقارير مع السلطات المختصة في حكومة السودان في إطار القرارات التي اتخذتها الجمعية العامة ولجنة حقوق الانسان منذ عام ١٩٩٢ بشأن حالة حقوق الانسان في السودان.

The second objective was to receive first-hand information on the latest measures taken by the Government through its Consultative Council for Human Rights regarding the improvement of the situation of human rights in the Sudan and the communication between the Government, the Commission on Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
أما الهدف الثاني فهو الحصول على معلومات مباشرة عن آخر التدابير التي اتخذتها الحكومة من خلال مجلسها الاستشاري لحقوق الانسان بشأن تحسين حالة حقوق الانسان في السودان والاتصالات بين الحكومة ولجنة حقوق الانسان ومفوضية اﻷمم المتحدة لحقوق الانسان.

At its fiftieth session, in 1994, the Commission on Human Rights decided, in its resolution 1994/79 of 9 March, entitled " situation of human rights in the Sudan " , to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur for an additional year.
وفي دورتها الخمسين المعقودة في عام ١٩٩٤، قررت لجنة حقوق الانسان في قرارها ١٩٩٤/٧٩ المؤرخ ٩ آذار/مارس، والمعنون " حالة حقوق الانسان في السودان " ، تمديد ولاية المقرر الخاص لمدة سنة اضافية.
