5. If a member of the Committee dies or resigns or for any other reason can no longer perform his or her Committee duties, the State Party which nominated him or her shall, in accordance with the criteria set out in paragraph 1 of this article, appoint another candidate from among its nationals to serve out his or her term, subject to the approval of the majority of the States Parties.
5 - إذا توفي أحد أعضاء اللجنة أو استقال أو إذا تعذر عليه لأي سبب آخر النهوض بمهامه في اللجنة، تقوم الدولة الطرف التي رشحته بتعيين خبير آخر من رعاياها، مع الالتزام بالمعايير المشار إليها في الفقرة 1 من هذه المادة، للعمل في اللجنة خلال فترة الولاية المتبقية، وذلك رهناً بموافقة أغلبية الدول الأطراف.

5- إذا توفي أحد أعضاء اللجنة أو استقال أو إذا تعذر عليه لأي سبب آخر النهوض بمهامه في اللجنة، تقوم الدولة الطرف التي رشحته بتعيين خبير آخر من رعاياها، مع الالتزام بالمعايير المشار إليها في الفقرة 1 من هذه المادة، للعمل في اللجنة خلال فترة الولاية المتبقية، وذلك رهناً بموافقة أغلبية الدول الأطراف.

By a noted dated 4 March 1992, the Secretary-General invited the Government of Brazil to appoint another expert from among its nationals to serve for the remainder of Mrs. Borges de Omena's term.

3. Where the Committee declines to approve the appointment of a replacement under the first paragraph of this rule, the State party that nominated the expert shall be invited to appoint another expert from among its own nationals.
3- حين ترفض اللجنة الموافقة على تعيين العضو البديل المنصوص عليه في الفقرة 1 من هذه المادة تدعى الدولة الطرف التي رشحت الخبير إلى تعيين خبير آخر من بين مواطنيها.

6. If a member of the Committee dies or resigns or for any other cause can no longer perform his Committee duties, the State Party which nominated him shall appoint another expert from among its nationals to serve for the remainder of his term, subject to the approval of the majority of the States Parties.
٦- إذا توفي أحد أعضاء اللجنة أو استقال أو إذا تعذر عليه ﻷي سبب آخر النهوض بمهامه في اللجنة، تقوم الدولة الطرف التي رشحته بتعيين خبير آخر من رعاياها لقضاء مدة الولاية المتبقية، وذلك رهناً بموافقة أغلبية الدول اﻷطراف.

In accordance with article 72, paragraph 6, of the Convention, if a member of the Committee dies or resigns or declares for any other cause that he or she can no longer perform his or her duties as a member of the Committee, the Secretary-General shall immediately request the State party that nominated the expert to appoint within two months another expert from among its own nationals for the remaining part of the term.
1- وفقاً للفقرة 6 من المادة 72 من الاتفاقية، إذا توفي عضو من أعضاء اللجنة أو استقال أو أعلن أنه، لأي سبب آخر، لم يعد باستطاعته أداء مهامه كعضو في اللجنة، يطلب الأمين العام فوراً إلى الدولة الطرف التي رشحت الخبير تعيين خبير آخر من بين مواطنيها في غضون شهرين ليكمّل ما تبقى من فترة عضوية سلفه.

At the request of the Office for the Promotion of Equality, the Division supported the participation of another expert from the Committee in March 2005, to assist in a series of workshops to discuss the responsibilities of various line ministries in the preparation of Timor-Leste's initial report under the Convention, including the collection of appropriate sex-disaggregated data and information.

1. When a casual vacancy occurs in the Committee the SecretaryGeneral shall immediately request the State party whose expert has ceased to function as a member of the Committee to appoint another expert from among its nationals within two months to serve for the remainder of his predecessor's term.
