Sophia Airlines reported that those flights transported cash from Abidjan to San Pedro.
وأفادت خطوط طيران صوفيا بأن تلك الرحلات نقلت أموالا نقدية من أبيدجان إلى سان بدرو.

The Group notes that Sophia Airlines previously transported funds for BCEAO.
ويلاحظ فريق الخبراء أن خطوط طيران صوفيا نقلت في السابق أموالاً لحساب المصرف المركزي لدول غرب أفريقيا.

The pilot refused to fly the aircraft and a second Sophia Airlines pilot accepted the mission.
ورفض الطيار القيام بهذه الرحلة، وقَبِل طيار آخر من طياري خطوط طيران صوفيا القيام بهذه المهمة.

According to the Group’s information, Sophia Airlines transported these materials from Dakar to Abidjan.

Sophia Airlines informed the Embargo Cell that the boxes contained cash and that the flights were organized to transfer cash on behalf of BCEAO, but did not provide supporting documentation.
وأبلغت خطوط طيران صوفيا الخلية بأن الصناديق تحتوي على نقود، وأن الرحلات قد نُظِّمَت لنقل النقود باسم المصرف المركزي لدول غرب أفريقيا، إلا أنها لم تقدم وثائق مؤيدة.

In the remaining cases, the Group concludes that, on at least seven occasions, Sophia Airlines transported high-value or militarily sensitive cargo from Abidjan to Daloa.

69. The Group recalls the involvement of Sophia Airlines and of its owner in a number of other cases described in this report.

62. Sophia Airlines now operates under the name Ivoire Airlines Business, although some of its aircraft still bear Sophia Airlines marking. (The company is hereinafter referred to as Sophia Airlines.)

65. In January 2011, Sophia Airlines made a number of flights that appear to have been in support of military operations of the transport of weapons and related materiel.

67. The following paragraphs summarize an increasing body of evidence that suggests the involvement of Sophia Airlines in military-related activity in Côte d’Ivoire:

At around 1100 GMT, the patrol witnessed a Sophia Airlines aircraft attended by armed security forces and armoured vehicles that are usually used to transport cash and other valuable commodities.
وحوالي الساعة 00/11 بتوقيت غرينتش، شهدت الدورية إحدى طائرات خطوط طيران صوفيا محاطة بقوات أمن مسلحة وسيارات مصفحة من النوع الذي يستخدم عادة في نقل النقود والسلع القيِّمة الأخرى.

68. The Group notes that explanations for the shipments provided by Sophia Airlines do not accord with accounts provided by BCEAO.
68 - يلاحظ فريق الخبراء أن الإيضاحات التي قدمتها خطوط طيران صوفيا بشأن الشحنات لا تتوافق مع ما ذكره المصرف المركزي لدول غرب أفريقيا.

Military personnel attended the offloading of the cargo on each occasion and Sophia Airlines appears to have used the explanation of “regular cash transfers” to conceal this activity.
وحضر أفراد عسكريون عملية إنزال حمولة البضائع في كل مرة، واستخدمت خطوط طيران صوفيا على ما يبدو تفسير " النقل الاعتيادي للأموال النقدية " للتستر على هذا النشاط.

56. According to the Group’s sources, all financial documents of companies owned/directed by Mr. Lafont were transferred to Togo via Sophia Airlines flights during the post-electoral crisis of 2010/11.
56 - ووفقا لإفادة مصادر الفريق، نُـقلت كافة المستندات المالية للشركات التي يملكها/يديرها السيد لافون إلى توغو على متن خطوط طيران صوفيا خلال الأزمة التي أعقبت الانتخابات في الفترة 2010/2011.

At the same time, the Group notes that Mr. Lafont is communicating on behalf of Sophia Airlines using the e-mail address of the Chief Executive Officer (sophia_pca@yahoo.fr).
