It noted with appreciation that there had been steady progress and improvement in the utilization of conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) since the establishment of a permanent interpretation service in 2001.

5. In the course of the preparation of the reports on the utilization of conference facilities at Nairobi, all variables relevant to the possible establishment of a permanent interpretation service were reviewed carefully.
٥ - وفي سياق إعداد التقارير الخاصة باستخدام مرافق المؤتمرات في نيروبي، جرى استعراض جميع العناصر المتغيرة ذات الصلة بإمكانية إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية بعناية.

In that regard, we wish to draw the attention of the Secretary-General to the fact that the Arabic and English interpretation booths have remained vacant ever since a permanent interpretation service was established at the United Nations Office at Nairobi in 2000.
وفي هذا الصدد، نود أن نسترعي انتباه الأمين العام إلى حقيقة أن مقصورات الترجمة الشفوية العربية والانكليزية ما زالت خالية منذ أن تقرر إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية في مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي عام 2000.

It was encouraging to note that, as a result of the establishment of a permanent interpretation service at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), the number of events there had increased by 10 per cent, and the number of meetings covered by interpretation had risen by 23.5 per cent during 2001.

12. Notes with satisfaction that the creation of a permanent interpretation service at Nairobi offers great potential for Nairobi as a venue for United Nations conferences and meetings, and takes note with appreciation of the efforts being made by the United Nations Office at Nairobi to attract more meetings to its facilities;
12 - تلاحظ مع الارتياح أن إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية في نيروبي يؤهل نيروبي إلى حد كبير لتصبح مكانا لعقد مؤتمرات واجتماعات الأمم المتحدة، وتحيط علما مع التقدير بالجهود التي يبذلها حاليا مكتب الأمم المتحدة في نيروبي لجذب المزيد من الاجتماعات إلى مرافقه؛

50. The question of the creation of a permanent interpretation service at the United Nations Office at Nairobi should be considered from various aspects, particularly in terms of investment for the future and as a factor for attracting other users of the conference facilities at that Office.
٥٠ - ينبغي النظر إلى مسألة إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية بمكتب اﻷمم المتحدة بنيروبي من عدة جوانب ولا سيما فيما يتعلق بالاستثمار من أجل المستقبل وبوصفها عاملا لجذب مستخدمين آخرين لمرافق المؤتمرات في ذلك المكتب.

17. Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the possibility of establishing a permanent interpretation service at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (A/54/262), the Committee on Conferences had requested a further, more comprehensive report on the issue.
١٧ - وأضاف أن لجنة المؤتمرات نظرت في تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن إمكانية إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية في مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة في نيروبي )A/54/262(، وطلبت تقديم تقرير آخر أكثر شمولا عن هذه المسألة.

19. Requests the Secretary-General, in view of the fact that the United Nations Office at Nairobi has been upgraded to a full-fledged United Nations centre, to explore the possibility of establishing a permanent interpretation service at the centre and to submit a comprehensive report thereon to the General Assembly at its fifty-fourth session;
١٩ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يدرس إمكانية إنشاء دائرة دائمة للترجمة الشفوية بمكتب اﻷمم المتحدة في نيروبي نظرا لرفع مستوى هذا المكتب إلى مركز كامل اﻷهلية من مراكز اﻷمم المتحدة، وأن يقدم تقريرا شاملا عن هذا الموضوع إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الرابعة والخمسين؛
