Mr. Deng noted that addressing the causes of conflict required the creation of a normative framework, and constructive management of diversity to promote inclusiveness, equality, and the enjoyment of the rights of citizenship on an equitable basis.

As regards cooperation between the Security Council and the UN system, Mr. Deng suggested that the Council might consider requesting briefings from staff who work in the field, below the level of the SRSG.

On the Council's cooperation with the African Union, Mr. Deng emphasized that the involvement of the Security Council and the African Union in any situation involving a country raises the stakes with regard to concerns about sovereignty.
وفيما يتعلق بتعاون مجلس الأمن مع الاتحاد الأفريقي، شدد السيد دنغ على أن مشاركة مجلس الأمن والاتحاد الأفريقي في أي حالة تهم بلدا تزيد الخلافات فيه من حيث ما تثيره من مخاوف بشأن السيادة.
