5. The Commission held its fourth special session at the United Nations Office at Geneva on 23, 24 and 27 September 1999.

7. In this connection, it is recalled that in resolution 51/45 C of 10 December 1996, the General Assembly decided, subject to the emergence of a consensus on its objective and agenda, to convene its fourth special session devoted to disarmament in 1999.
٧ - ومن الجدير بالذكر في هذا الصدد أن الجمعية العامة قررت فــي القــرار ٥١/٤٥ جيــم المــؤرخ ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٦، رهنا بظهور توافق في اﻵراء بشأن هدفها وخطتها، أن تعقد في عام ١٩٩٩ دورتها الاستثنائية الرابعة المكرسة لنزع السلاح.

41. At its 6th meeting, on 27 September 1999, the Commission considered the draft report on the work of its fourth special session (E/CN.4/S-4/L.2).
41- نظرت اللجنة، في جلستها السادسة المعقودة في 27 أيلول/سبتمبر 1999، في مشروع التقرير عن أعمال دورتها الاستثنائية الرابعة (E/CN.4/S-4/L.2 ).

Introduction 1. The Commission on Human Rights held its fourth special session at Geneva from 23 to 27 September 1999 and adopted, on 27 September 1999, resolution S-4/1 entitled " Situation of human rights in East Timor " .
