Under article 5 of the Convention, States parties are under an obligation to eliminate customary practices based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the sexes.

The MSAR Government, through its several departments, has been adopting concrete measures aiming at changing men and women's socio-cultural behaviour schemes and models and at suppressing the prejudices and practices based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the genders or on stereotyped roles for men and women.

The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women pays particular attention to measures taken by Governments to eliminate prejudices and discriminatory practices that rooted in the idea of the inferiority or superiority of either of the sexes or in stereotyped roles for men and women.
66- وتهتم لجنة القضاء على التمييز ضد المرأة بشكل خاص بالإجراءات المتخذة من الحكومات للقضاء على الأفكار المسبقة والممارسات التمييزية القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين أو قالب جاهز لدور الرجل أو المرأة.

24. International human rights law also requires States to take measures to eliminate harmful cultural and traditional practices and all other practices that are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either sex, or on stereotyped roles for women and men.
24- ويقتضي القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان من الدول أن تتخذ أيضاً تدابير للقضاء على الممارسات الثقافية والتقليدية الضارة وجميع الممارسات الأخرى القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين، أو على أدوار نمطية للنساء والرجال.

85. Turkmenistan is taking all appropriate measures to modify the social and cultural patterns of conduct of men and women, with a view to achieving the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices which are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women.

As is evident from article 5 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices based on the idea of the inferiority or superiority of either of the sexes or on stereotyped roles for men and women poses the main challenge to the identification of new educational and human development policies.
وكما تبيّن المادة 5 من اتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة، فإن القضاء على أوجه التحامل والممارسات العرفية وغيرها من الممارسات القائمة على فكرة دونية أو تفوق أحد الجنسين، أو الأدوار المقولبة للرجال والنساء، يفرض ذات التحديات الرئيسية التي تواجه وضع سياسات جديدة في مجالي التعليم والتنمية البشرية.
