As indicated in the previous report of the Secretary-General on this question, in 1996 and 1997, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) carried out a research project, the main result of which was a book entitled La economía cubana: Reformas estructurales y desempeño económico en los noventa, published by the Fondo de Cultura Económica.
