The Department of Peacekeeping Operations sent notes verbales dated 9 June 2009 to both Governments in response to the note verbale received from Iraq dated 14 May.

Written submissions were received from States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations in response to a note verbale from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on behalf of the Secretary-General requesting information on the implementation of the resolution.

52. Based on a preliminary analysis of the national plans received to date, the following general trends can be identified. In addition to completed plans, a few of the replies received in response to the note verbale either provided a draft of a national plan or preview of a plan under preparation, or indicated that the preparatory process would be concluded within a certain period of time.

34. This report provides information on the preparations at the national, regional and international levels for the observance of the Year, taking into account replies received from Member States23 in response to the note verbale dated 31 December 2003 by the Secretary-General; and also includes responses from relevant organizations of the United Nations system24 and non-governmental organizations.25

On 25 October 1996, the Special Rapporteurs, in reply to the note verbale of 18 October 1996 of the Permanent Mission of Nigeria, stated that, in their view, the terms of reference attached to their letter of 7 October 1996 were the standard minimum guarantees required for any mission to be conducted by special rapporteurs of the Commission on Human Rights.

12. On 25 October 1996, the Special Rapporteurs, in reply to the note verbale of the Permanent Mission of Nigeria of 18 October 1996, stated that in their view the terms of reference attached to their letter of 7 October 1996 are the standard minimum guarantees required for any mission to be conducted by special rapporteurs of the Commission on Human Rights.

74. The Chairman of the Commission pointed out that, in response to a note verbale from the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea addressed to certain coastal States whose term of submission expired in 2009, seven States had informed the Secretariat that their submissions to the Commission were expected to be completed within the next three years.
74 - وأعلن رئيس اللجنة أنه، ردا على المذكرة الشفوية التي وجهتها شعبة شؤون المحيطات وقانون البحار إلى بعض الدول الساحلية التي تنتهي فترة تقديمها طلباتها في عام 2009، أبلغت سبع دول الأمانة العامة أنها تتوقع أن تنجز الطلبات التي ينبغي أن تقدمها إلى اللجنة في غضون السنوات الثلاث القادمة.

The reports of the Commission and its working groups record the attendance of member States at the session on the basis of the relevant information received from member States in response to a note verbale circulated by the Secretariat notifying about the upcoming session.
17- وتسجل تقارير اللجنة وأفرقتها العاملة حضور ممثلي الدول الأعضاء في الدورة استناداً إلى المعلومات الواردة من الدول الأعضاء بهذا الشأن ردا على المذكرة الشفوية التي تعممها الأمانة عليها لإبلاغها بالدورة المقبلة.
