70. On 16 May 2000 the Government sent a copy of the Provisional Rules for the Conduct of Unlawful Trials by Judicial Personnel of the People's Courts, in response to the Special Rapporteur's communication of 3 February 2000.

125. On 18 February 2000, the Government replied to the Special Rapporteur's communication of 5 November 1999 concerning the trial of Tony Gachoka (see E/CN.4/2000/61, paras. 187188).

204. On 8 December 2000, the Government responded to the Special Rapporteur's communication of 13 October 2000. The Government stated that it provides proper protection to prosecutors and judges as it does to all citizens.

In a communication dated 14 September 2000, the Government provided further information about Arturo Solis in reply to the Special Rapporteur's communication of 7 July 2000, explaining that protective measures had been put in place by the Office of the Attorney-General in the State of Tamaulipas on 11 July 2000 to guarantee the safety of Mr. Solis.

On 30 November 2000, the Government replied to the Special Rapporteur's communication of 26 October 2000, informing him that the Secretariat of the Governor had offered Jaime Avilés an investigation and the necessary protection.

105. On 24 June 1999, the Government sent a letter in reply to the Special Rapporteur's letter of 14 December 1998 concerning the case of Mr. Li Bifeng.

14. By a note verbale dated 30 July 1997 the Permanent Mission of Ecuador to the United Nations Office at Geneva replied to the various questions contained in the Special Rapporteur's letter of 4 June 1997 (see para. 6) as follows:
١٤ - وقدمت البعثـــة الدائمـــة ﻹكوادور لدى مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة في جنيف، بمذكرة شفوية مؤرخة ٣٠ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٧، ردها على الاستفسارات المحددة الواردة في رسالة المقرر الخاص المؤرخة ٤ حزيران/ يونيه ١٩٩٧ )انظر الفقرة ٦( وأعربت عما يلي:

Contrary to the allegations contained in the letter of the Special Rapporteur of 3 November 1993, there were in fact instances where the Supreme Court had inquired into allegations of violations of fundamental rights by individual members of the armed forces and police and had awarded compensation to the victims.
وخلافاً للادعاءات الواردة في رسالة المقرر الخاص المؤرخة في ٣ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ٣٩٩١، فإن هذه في الواقع حالات قامت فيها المحكمة العليا بالتحقيق في إدعاءات انتهاك الحقوق اﻷساسية من جانب أفراد في القوات المسلحة والشرطة وقد مُنح فيها تعويض للضحايا.

285. On 18 December 1995 the Government replied to the letter of the Special Rapporteur of 10 July 1995 regarding the conditions under which children are held in police lock-ups in the country (see E/CN.4/1996/35/Add.1, paras. 411-412).

On 13 November 2000, the Government of Kyrgyzstan responded to the letter of the Special Rapporteur dated 28 September 2000, indicating that the materials published in Delo No consisted of comments made on the testimony which was heard in camera.
