(i) further development of international environmental law, promotion of its implementation, and coordinating functions arising from an increasing number of international legal agreements;
(ط) زيادة تطوير القانون البيئي الدولي وتعزيز تنفيذه، وتنسيق المهام الناشئة عن تزايد عدد الاتفاقات القانونية الدولية؛

Agenda 21 specifically calls on UNEP to concentrate on the " further development of international environmental law, promotion of its implementation, and coordinating functions arising from an increasing number of international legal agreements " .

The Declaration underscored the further development of international environmental law aiming at sustainable development, including the development of coherent interlinkages among existing multilateral environmental conventions, as one of the elements of the mandate of UNEP.

37. In addition to the further development of international environmental law and the promotion of its implementation, Agenda 21 identified the need for UNEP to concentrate on " coordinating functions arising from an increasing number of international legal agreements " .
37 - وبالإضافة إلى زيادة تطوير القانون البيئي الدولي وتعزيز تنفيذه، أشار جدول أعمال القرن 21 إلى ضرورة قيام برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة بـ " التركيز على تنسيق المهام الناشئة عن العدد المتزايد للاتفاقات القانونية الدولية " .

(e) Promoting the further development of international environmental law and mobilizing an effective international response to global environmental threats, through innovative mechanisms and cooperative arrangements to address key concerns, such as climate change, ozone depletion, desertification control and the preservation of biological diversity, and meeting new challenges in the areas of energy and transport;

This mandate was reaffirmed in the Programme for the Further Implementation of Agenda 21, which stipulated that " the role of UNEP in the further development of international environmental law should be strengthened, including the development of coherent interlinkages among relevant environmental conventions in cooperation with their respective conferences of the parties or governing bodies " .
