On 9 October, it was reported that Muslim leaders in Jerusalem had temporarily closed the Temple Mount to all but Muslim worshippers on the ground that the site should not be opened to the public such a short time after three Palestinians had allegedly been killed by police during rioting there two weeks earlier.

A Palestinian, Jawad Bazlameet, was killed when a rubber bullet struck him in the head and penetrated his skull. B'tselem also reported that the Israeli authorities had prevented Palestinian medical teams and ambulances from entering the holy compound.
وقتل فلسطيني اسمه جواد بظلميط عندما أصابته رصاصة مطاطية في الرأس واخترقت جمجمته، وذكرت منظمة بتسليم أيضا أن السلطات الاسرائيلية منعت اﻷفرقة الطبية وسيارات الاسعاف الفلسطينية من دخول ساحة الحرم الشريف.

Instead of taking appropriate measures against such acts of provocation and incitement by Israeli extremists that inflame religious tensions and fuel senseless violence, the Israeli occupying forces decided to turn their brutality against Palestinian civilians who had been at the holy compound.
وبدلا من اتخاذ التدابير المناسبة ضد هذه الأعمال من الاستفزاز والتحريض التي يقوم بها المتطرفون والتي تزيد من حدة التوتر الديني وتؤجج العنف الطائش، فإن قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية قررت أن توجه وحشيتها ضد المدنيين الفلسطينيين المتواجدين في ساحة الحرم الشريف.
