Firstly, the Coalition Provisional Authority and the Interim Governing Council established following military operations by the Coalition forces are shortly to be replaced by an Interim Government, which has just been named.

30. The Supreme Judicial Council was dissolved but subsequently re-established pursuant to Coalition Provisional Authority Order No. 35 of 2003. Section 1 of the Order states that the purpose of re-establishing the Council is to create a body to oversee the judicial and prosecutorial systems and that the Council shall perform its functions independently of the Ministry of Justice.
