At its forty-eighth session, the General Assembly considered this item for the first time and commemorated the centenary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by proclaiming 1994 as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal.
لقد نظرت الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين في هذا البند ﻷول مرة، وأحيت ذكرى مرور مائة عام على إنشاء اللجنة اﻷولمبية الدولية بإعلان سنة ١٩٩٤ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي.

The OAU also wishes to request that the General Assembly proclaim the year 1994 as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal, with the clear understanding that it will not involve any expenditure on the part of the United Nations or its Member States, nor will it require the setting up of an administrative structure.
كما تود منظمة الوحدة الافريقية أن تطلب الى الجمعية العامة إعلان عام ١٩٩٤ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثال اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي، مع الفهم الواضح ﻷن ذلك لا يرتب أي نفقات من جانب اﻷمم المتحدة أو الدول اﻷعضاء فيها، ولن يتطلب إنشاء هيكل إداري.

Recognition of the added value of sport to achieve the objectives of the United Nations was further acknowledged with the proclamation by the General Assembly that 1995 be celebrated as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Idea and 2005 as the International Year of Sport for Development and Peace.
وأقر أيضاً بالقيمة المضافة للرياضة في تحقيق أهداف الأمم المتحدة من خلال إعلان الجمعية العامة الاحتفال بعام 1995 سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل الأوليمبي الأعلى وبعام 2005 سنة دولية للرياضة من أجل التنمية والسلام.

40. Mr. van den Berg (Netherlands) said that his delegation supported the proclamation of an International Year of Sport and Physical Education proposed by Tunisia.
40 - السيد فان دن بيرغ (هولندا): قال إن وفده يؤيِّد إعلان سنة دولية للرياضة والتربية البدنية على نحو ما اقترحته تونس.

28. Mr. Zarif (Islamic Republic of Iran) said that the proclamation of an International Year of Sport and Physical Education would provide an opportunity to address many issues, as the representative of Tunisia had explained. The Organization of the Islamic Conference had also supported the initiative, and its ministers in New York would be expressing that support to the General Assembly.
28 - السيد ظريف (جمهورية إيران الإسلامية): قال إن إعلان سنة دولية للرياضة والتربية البدنية سوف يتيح فرصة لمعالجة كثيرٍ من القضايا على نحو ما شرحه ممثل تونس، وقد أيَّدت منظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي كذلك المبادرة كما سيعلن وزراؤها في نيويورك هذا التأييد أمام الجمعية العامة.

8. Decides to proclaim 2005 as the International Year for Sport and Physical Education, as a means to promote education, health, development and peace, and invites Governments to organize events to underline their commitment and to seek the assistance of sports personalities in this regard;
8 - تقرر إعلان عام 2005 سنة دولية للرياضة والتربية البدنية كوسيلة لتعزيز التعليم والصحة والتنمية والسلام، وتدعو الحكومات إلى تنظيم أنشطة تؤكد من خلالها التزامها في هذا المجال والتماس المساعدة من الشخصيات الرياضية في هذا الشأن؛

The General Assembly recognized this in resolutions 58/5, 59/10, 60/9 and in its proclamation of 2005 as the International Year for Sport and Physical Education, seeking to encourage sport as a means of promoting education, health, development and peace. Also, the 2005 World Summit Outcome (resolution 60/1) states that sport could foster peace and development.
لقد اعترفت الجمعية العامة بهذا الأمر في قراراتها 58/5 و 59/10 و 60/9، وقرار إعلانها عام 2005 سنة دولية للرياضة والتربية البدنية، لتشجيع الرياضة بوصفها وسيلة لتعزيز التعليم والصحة والتنمية والسلام، وقرارها 60/1 والذي أكدت فيه أن الرياضة يمكنها أن تدعم التنمية والسلام.

1. Proclaims 1994 as International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal;
١ - تعلن سنة ١٩٩٤ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي؛

It targets the need to strengthen physical education and sport as part of quality education in achieving education for all in line with the final communiqué of the round table of the Ministers in charge of physical education and sport at UNESCO in January 2003, in which they requested the General Assembly at its fifty-eighth session to proclaim 2005 as the International Year of Sport and Physical Education.
وهي تستهدف تلبية الحاجة إلى تعزيز التربية البدنية والرياضة بوصفهما جزءا من التعليم الجيد في سبيل توفير التعليم للجميع وفقا للبلاغ الختامي لاجتماع المائدة المستديرة للوزراء المسؤولين عن التربية البدنية والرياضة المعقود في مقر اليونسكو في كانون الثاني/يناير 2003، الذي طلبوا فيه إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثامنة والخمسين أن تعلن عام 2005 سنة دولية للرياضة والتربية البدنية.

At that session, the General Assembly commemorated the centenary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee by proclaiming 1994 as International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal (resolution 48/10) and requested the Secretary-General to promote the observance of the Olympic Truce (resolution 48/11).
وفي تلك الدورة، أحيت الجمعية العامة ذكرى مرور مائة عام على إنشاء اللجنة اﻷوليمبية الدولية بإعلان سنة ٤٩٩١ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي )القرار ٨٤/٠١( وطلبت إلى اﻷمين العام أن يشجع على مراعاة الهدنة اﻷوليمبية )القرار ٨٤/١١(.
