The Subcommittee noted that the ability of the Office for Outer Space Affairs to continue to deliver the same number of activities in a broad range of thematic areas as in the past would be possible only if the Office continued to attract the same level of cash and in-kind contributions.

It was important for the Office for Outer Space Affairs to provide non-spacefaring countries with informational material to train and create awareness among scientists and the general public of the possibilities and benefits of human space flight and space technology programmes and to establish ground-based research programmes and international cooperation opportunities in microgravity research and its applications.
48- ومن المهم أن يعمل مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي على تزويد البلدان غير المرتادة للفضاء بمعلومات تفيد في تدريب وتوعية العلميين وعامة الجمهور بشأن إمكانيات ومنافع برامج ارتياد الإنسان للفضاء وبرامج تكنولوجيا الفضاء وفي وضع برامج بحوث أرضية وإيجاد فرص التعاون الدولي في بحوث وتطبيقات الجاذبية الصغرى.

26. Urges all Member States to continue to contribute to the Trust Fund for the United Nations Programme on Space Applications to enhance the capacity of the Office for Outer Space Affairs to provide technical and legal advisory services in accordance with the Plan of Action, while maintaining the priority thematic areas agreed by the Committee;
26 - تحث جميع الدول الأعضاء على مواصلة المساهمة في الصندوق الاستئماني لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للتطبيقات الفضائية لتعزيز قدرة مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي على تقديم الخدمات الاستشارية التقنية والقانونية وفقا لخطة العمل، مع الإبقاء على المجالات المواضيعية ذات الأولوية التي وافقت عليها اللجنة؛

Mr. Jasentuliyana (Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs): In response to requests by delegations at past sessions of the Committee, I should like to provide a brief review of the work of the Office for Outer Space Affairs over the past year and of the documents prepared by the Office for this session of the Committee.

The Subcommittee noted with appreciation that the Governments of France and the Republic of Korea had provided associate experts to assist the Office for Outer Space Affairs in carrying out its work relating to implementation of the recommendations of the Third United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE III).
18- ولاحظت اللجنة الفرعية مع التقدير أن حكومتـي جمهورية كوريا وفرنسا وفّرتا خبراء معاونين لمساعدة مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي على الاضطلاع بأعماله المتعلقة بتنفيذ توصيات مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة الثالث المعني باستكشاف الفضاء الخارجي واستخدامه في الأغراض السلمية (اليونيسبيس الثالث).
