A number of offshore structures in the North Sea/North-East Atlantic are nearing the end of their lifetime, so that a similar approach is being contemplated in this region also.

162. The North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) held an extraordinary session (19-21 March 1996) on oceanic-type redfish and Norwegian spring spawning herring, and agreement was reached that appropriate management measures were needed for these stocks.
١٦٢ - عقدت لجنة مصائد اﻷسماك في شمال شرقي المحيط اﻷطلسي دورة استثنائية )١٩ - ٢١ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٦( بشأن السمك اﻷحمر الموجود في المحيطات وسمك الرنجة النرويجي الذي يضع بيضه في الربيع، وتم التوصل إلى اتفاق على ضرورة تطبيق تدابير إدارية مناسبة على أرصدة هذين النوعين.

NEAFC had adopted a comprehensive framework on monitoring, surveillance and control to assist in promoting the long-term conservation and optimum utilization of the fishery resources in the North-East Atlantic area.
