On 18 March 2010, the Council met to consider a vacancy on the International Court of Justice following the resignation of Judge Shi Jiuyong, which would take effect on 28 May 2010.
وفي 18 آذار/مارس 2010، اجتمع المجلس للنظر في أمر شغور منصب في محكمة العدل الدولية عقب استقالة القاضي شي جيونغ التي تسري اعتبارا من 28 أيار/مايو 2010.

On 29 June, the Council, at a meeting held simultaneously with a meeting of the General Assembly, elected Xue Hanqin to fill the vacant seat on the International Court of Justice left by the resignation of Judge Shi Jiuyong.

1. In a letter dated 19 March 2010, addressed to the States parties to the Statute of the International Court of Justice, the Secretary-General drew attention to the fact that a seat on the Court had become vacant as a result of the resignation, with effect from 28 May 2010, of Judge, former Vice-President and former President Shi Jiuyong (China).
1 - في رسالة مؤرخة 19 آذار/مارس 2010، موجهة إلى الدول الأطراف في النظام الأساسي لمحكمة العدل الدولية، وجه الأمين العام الانتباه إلى الشاغر الذي نجم في محكمة العدل الدولية عن استقالة القاضي ونائب الرئيس سابقا والرئيس سابقا شي جيونغ (الصين) اعتبارا من 28 أيار/مايو 2010.

21. Mr. Shi Jiuyong (President of the International Court of Justice) said that, in 2004, the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, had issued a final judgment in ten cases, the judgments in all of the eight cases concerning the Legality of Use of Force having been rendered simultaneously.
