While welcoming the State party's various efforts to combat violence against women and girls at legislative and policy levels, such as initiatives and projects carried out under the Second Plan to Combat Violence against Women of 2007, the Committee is concerned about the persistent violence against women in the State party.
9- وترحب اللجنة بما تبذله الدولة الطرف من جهود لمكافحة العنف ضد النساء والفتيات على الصعيدين التشريعي والسياساتي، من قبيل المبادرات والمشاريع التي نفذتها الدولة الطرف بموجب خطة العمل الثانية لمكافحة العنف ضد المرأة لعام 2007، بيد أنها تشعر بالقلق إزاء العنف المستمر ضد المرأة في الدولة الطرف.

In the report, it is acknowledged that discrimination against women in the State party is inadequately understood and perceived owing to, among other things, the fact that it remains a challenge to obtain the statistical, qualitative and scientific information, in particular in the judicial sector, that would enable direct or indirect discrimination to be brought to light.

15. The Committee is concerned at the high prevalence of violence against women, in particular domestic and sexual violence, despite the comprehensive legal framework to address violence against women in the State party.

9. Response: In the absence of any comparative international data, it is rather unclear as to the basis on which the Committee chose to frame the question starting with the phrase " Given the high prevalence of violence against women in the State party " .

(d) Conduct comprehensive studies to identify the root causes of sex-selective abortion and of discrimination against women in the State party and provide, in its next report, yearly plans to combat sex-selective abortions, taking on board the recommendations in the interagency statement on preventing gender-biased sex selection by United Nations specialized agencies in 2011.
