Those actions were carried out despite the fact that 27 United Nations Security Council resolutions reaffirm the applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention and request the occupying Power to comply with its provisions, some of them specifically requesting the cessation of settlement activities and holding the annexation of East Jerusalem to be null and void.
