The Conference produced the following text, which aims to make clear, as required by the United Nations Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects, what States' existing responsibilities under relevant international law actually are and to enable national officials to implement fully the United Nations Programme of Action in the area of transfer controls.

Our approach during the recent regional United Nations Conference on Small Arms in negotiating a compromise text for the transfer control of the draft final document is indicative of the way we approach the issue of arms control.
والنهج الذي اتبعناه، خلال مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة الإقليمي المعني بالأسلحة الصغيرة الذي عُقد مؤخرا في التفاوض على نص توافقي لمشروع الوثيقة الختامية بشأن ضوابط النقل خير دليل على الطريقة التي نعالج بها مسألة تحديد الأسلحة.
