His Excellency Abdullah Gul, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the 31st ICFM delivered a speech in which he referred to the most important challenges facing the Islamic World. He stressed the wish of the people of the Islamic Ummah to achieve peace.
بعد ذلك ألقى معالي السيد عبد الله غول وزير خارجية الجمهورية التركية ورئيس الدورة 31 للمؤتمر الإسلامي لوزراء الخارجية، كلمة أشار فيها إلى أهم التحديات التي تواجه العالم الإسلامي، وأكد رغبة أبناء الأمة الإسلامية في تحقيق السلام.

Yet Erdogan has also been eager to use Europe’s requirements as a pretext to curb the army’s capacity to check his Islamic revolution. The election of his political ally, Abdullah Gul, as president, against the army’s will – indeed, against the entire Kemalist tradition – is a case in point.
