There was no doubt that the criminalization of abortion had a negative impact on respect for the right to life; it endangered women's lives by forcing them to have recourse to clandestine abortions.
30- ومضى يقول إن تجريم الإجهاض ترك، بلا شك، أثراً سلبياً على احترام الحق في الحياة، إذ إن ذلك يعرضّ حياة المرأة للخطر ويدفعها إلى اللجوء إلى الإجهاض السري.

As in previous years, the Special Rapporteur has analysed the nature of the communications received in order to highlight trends and bring to the attention of the international community a number of policies, practices, incidents and measures having a negative impact on respect for the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

١٦ - ووجﱠه العديد من المسؤولين من رجال الدين والسياسيين والعسكريين، حرصا منهم على احترام الحق في الحياة، نداءات إلى السكان يدلﱡونهم فيها على النهج الذي يجب اتباعه.

He called on the authorities to adopt all necessary measures to ensure respect for the right to life during operations carried out by law enforcement officials, to prosecute and sanction all those responsible for extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, to grant adequate compensation to the victims and, above all, to adopt measures to prevent the recurrence of violations of the right to life.
وناشد السلطات اتخاذ تدابير تشجع على احترام الحق في الحياة أثناء عمليات حفظ النظام، ومقاضاة المسؤولين عن حالات الاعدام في المحاكم، ودفع تعويض منصف لضحايا مثل هذه اﻷفعال و، خاصة، منع الاعتداءات المتكررة على الحق في الحياة.
