The General Committee will recall that, at the fifty-ninth session, it took note of a clarification regarding consideration of the relevant parts of chapter I of the report by the Main Committees concerned.

6. In making recommendations as to how agenda items should be allocated to the Main Committees and to the plenary Assembly, the General Committee should ensure the best use of the expertise of the Committees.
6 - ينبغي أن يكفل المكتب الاستخدام الأفضل لخبرة اللجان عند تقديم توصياته بشأن كيفية توزيع بنود جدول الأعمال على اللجان الرئيسية والجلسات العامة للجمعية.

There were several options: the issue could be considered in plenary meeting, by a committee of the whole, or by a working group; another solution would be to allocate the various elements to the Main Committees, on the basis of their respective competence, as had been proposed in the case of agenda item 12.
وثمة عدة إمكانيات في هذا الشأن؛ إذ يمكن أن تدرس المسألة في الجلسات العامة لجنة بكامل هيئتها أو فريق عامل؛ أو يمكن اعتماد حل يتمثل في توزيع مختلف مكوناتها على اللجان الرئيسية حسب اختصاص كل منها، على النحو المقترح بالنسبة للبند ١٢ من جدول اﻷعمال.

However, he did not agree that the General Assembly was obligated to determine whether the agenda items it allocated to the Main Committees would fit into their programmes of work; rather, the Committees must make the necessary adjustments to accommodate such items.
إلا أنه اعترض على أن الجمعية العامة ملزمة بتحديد ما إذا كانت بنود جدول اﻷعمال التي أحالتها على اللجان الرئيسية ستتلاءم وبرامج أعمالها. واعتبر أن على اللجان أن تجري التعديلات اللازمة لتناول مثل تلك البنود.

20. The Committee agreed to the proposed allocation of items to the Main Committees of the Conference as contained in annex V to the present report.
٢٠ - وافقت اللجنة على التوزيع المقترح للبنود على اللجان الرئيسية للمؤتمر على النحو الوارد في المرفق الرابع لهذا التقرير.

32. At the same session, the Committee adopted the draft decision on the allocation of items to the Main Committees of the Conference as contained in annex V to the present report.

وترى اللجنة الخاصة أيضا أنه توفيرا للوقت في بداية الدورة، فإن على اللجان الرئيسية أن لا تنتظر حتى نهاية المناقشة العامة لمباشرة أعمالها.

57. Mr. Bhatti (Pakistan) asked whether, from a technical standpoint, statements on programme budget implications imposed restrictions on the Main Committees and meant that the Committees could not take action on the draft resolutions in question. He wondered what the status of such resolutions would be if the Committees adopted them by consensus.
٧٥ - السيد بهاتي )باكستان(: قال إنه يود أن يعرف، من وجهة النظر الفنية، إذا كانت البيانات المتعلقة باﻵثار المترتبة في الميزانية البرنامجية تفرض قيودا على اللجان الرئيسية وإن الهدف منها أن اللجان ليس بوسعها أن تبت في مشاريع القرارات قيد النظر، وتساءل عما سيكون مركز هذه القرارات إذا اعتمدتها اللجان بتوافق اﻵراء.
