5. The present report describes steps that have been taken to implement the resolution, which is the first adopted by the General Assembly to address traditional or customary practices affecting the health of women and girls since 1954.
٥ - ويورد هذا التقرير ما اتﱡخذ من خطوات لتنفيذ هذا القرار، وهو أول قرار تتخذه الجمعية العامة لمعالجة مسألة الممارسات التقليدية أو العرفية التي تؤثر على صحة المرأة والبنت منذ عام ٤٥٩١.

(b) The Commission on the Status of Women, at its forty-third session, to address the subject of traditional or customary practices affecting the health of women and girls, including female genital mutilation, during its review of the critical area of concern “Women and health”;

The Office of the High Commissioner will contribute to the preparation of the report on traditional or customary practices affecting the health of women and girls (see General Assembly resolution 52/99).

Pursuant to the request contained in its resolution 1998/52, the Commission will also have before it the report of the Secretary—General on the implementation of General Assembly resolution 52/99 on traditional or customary practices affecting the health of women and girls (A/53/354).
