32. I must stress, however, that I have followed the recent evolution of the situation and the absence of progress in the peace process in Liberia with increasing concern.

12. Secondly, on the assumption that there is progress in the peace process in Liberia and the Liberian parties demonstrate before 13 April 1995 a clear willingness to implement the Accra agreement the following two additional options were put forward:
١٢ - وثانيا، علــى افتــراض حــدوث تقدم في عملية السلم في ليبريا وإظهار اﻷطراف الليبرية قبل ١٣ نيسان/ابريل ١٩٩٥ استعدادا واضحا لتنفيذ اتفاق أكرا قدم الخياران اﻹضافيان التاليان:

6. During the past year, most United Nations efforts have been directed towards supporting the peace process in Liberia, delivering humanitarian assistance to victims of civil conflict, providing for the emergency needs of displaced persons and, where possible, continuing rehabilitation activities.
٦ - وقد وجهت معظم جهود اﻷمم المتحدة خلال العام الماضي الى دعم عملية السلم في ليبريا وتقديم المساعدة اﻹنسانية الى ضحايا الحرب اﻷهلية وتوفير مساعدة الطوارئ للمشردين ومواصلة أنشطة اﻹنعاش، عند اﻹمكان.

29. In closing, I should like to thank my Special Representative, the Chief Military Observer and the civilian and military staff of UNOMIL for the contribution they are making, under very difficult circumstances, to the peace process in Liberia.
٢٩ - وأود أخيرا أن أشكر ممثلي الخاص وكبير المراقبين العسكريين والموظفين المدنيين والعسكريين في بعثة مراقبي اﻷمم المتحدة في ليبريا على المساهمة التي يبذلونها من أجل عملية السلم في ليبريا في ظروف شديدة الصعوبة.

36. the peace process in Liberia poses a special opportunity to the United Nations in that UNOMIL would be the first peace-keeping operation undertaken by the United Nations in cooperation with a peace-keeping mission already set up by another organization, in this case a subregional organization.
٣٦ - إن عملية السلم في ليبريا تهيئ فرصة خاصة لﻷمم المتحدة حيث أن بعثة اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة في ليبريا ستكون العملية اﻷولى التي تضطلع بها اﻷمم المتحدة لحفظ السلم بالتعاون مع بعثة لحفظ السلم أنشأتها بالفعل منظمة أخرى، هي في هذه الحالة منظمة دون إقليمية.

In my last report (S/1994/1006), I noted my increasing concern about the recent evolution of the situation and the absence of progress in the peace process in Liberia.
٢ - أبديت، في تقريري اﻷخير (S/1994/1006)، قلقي المتزايد إزاء سير الوضع في اﻵونة اﻷخيرة وإزاء انعدام التقدم في عملية السلم في ليبريا.

2. In his report to the Security Council of 10 April 1995 (S/1995/279), the Secretary-General informed the Council, inter alia, that the peace process in Liberia remained at an impasse and that the overall situation had further deteriorated since his last report to the Council dated 24 February 1995 (S/1995/158).
٢ - وقد أبلغ اﻷمين العام مجلس اﻷمن في تقريره اليه بتاريخ ١٠ نيسان/ابريل ١٩٩٥ )S/1995/279( أمورا منها أن عملية السلم في ليبريا مازالت مسدودة، وأن الوضع العام ازداد تدهورا منذ تقريره اﻷخير المقدم الى المجلس بتاريخ ٢٤ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٥ )S/1995/158(.

12. The Security Council, by its resolution 1014 (1995) of 15 September 1995, welcomed the positive developments in the Liberian peace process and consequently decided to extend the mandate of UNOMIL until 31 January 1996.
