The Office had anticipated using, on the one hand, the data from the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) on the mother tongue of staff and, on the other hand, the results of a detailed questionnaire sent in early September 2001 by the Joint Inspection Unit to all secretariats of its participating organizations in preparation for its own report on multilingualism in the United Nations system.
