These evaluation reports allowed the implementing entities, as well as the programme manager, to better understand the results of the projects and to draw lessons which could contribute positively to preparation of the progress report on the Development Account.

28. His delegation deeply regretted that no Advisory Committee report on the Development Account had so far been made available, believing that discussion of that matter should not be separated from the overall discussion of development.

35. Mr. Hanson (Canada) said that while his delegation welcomed the reallocation of savings to development, it agreed with the speakers who had emphasized the Committee’s need to consider the forthcoming report on the Development Account.

1. The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered the report of the Secretary-General on the Development Account (A/52/1009) submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 52/235 of 26 June 1998.
١ - نظرت اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون اﻹدارة والميزانية في تقرير اﻷمين العام عن حساب التنمية (A/52/1009) المقدم عملا بقرار الجمعية العامة ٥٢/٢٣٥.

His delegation would also welcome information about the status of the pending ACABQ report on annex II of the Secretary-General’s report on the Development Account (A/52/1009).

In the light of paragraph 3 of the report of the Secretary-General on the Development Account (A/52/1009), the impact of efficiency measures and savings on staffing levels was still not at all clear.
