The main focus of this year's draft resolution is the report on the continuing operation of the Register and its further development prepared this year by the Secretary-General with the assistance of the Group of Governmental Experts on the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms.

By its resolution 54/54 O, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to prepare a report on the continuing operation of the Register and its further development.
