In Suarez de Guerrero v. Colombia the Human Rights Committee found that Maria Fanny Suarez de Guerrero had been arbitrarily deprived of her life through firearm use by law enforcement officials in Colombia because there was " no evidence that the actions of the police was necessary in their own defence or that of others or that it was necessary to effect the arrest or prevent the escape of the persons concerned " .
