In its resolution 52/231, the General Assembly requested that a comparative report be prepared on how different categories of projects and programmes of United Nations organizations include women's interests and gender mainstreaming issues and on resources allocated in that regard.
وقد طلبت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها 52/231 إعداد تقرير مقارن بشأن مدى مراعاة مختلف فئات مشاريع وبرامج منظمات الأمم المتحدة لاهتمامات المرأة وإدماج القضايا المتعلقة بالجنسين في أنشطتها الرئيسية والموارد المخصصة لذلك.

This need was recognized by the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-second session, in March 1998, when it requested a comparative report on how different categories of projects and programmes of United Nations organizations include women’s interests and gender mainstreaming issues and on resources allocated in this regard.3
وقد اعترفت لجنة مركز المرأة بهذه الحاجة، في دورتها الثانية والخمسين، المعقودة في آذار/ مارس ١٩٩٨، عندما طلبت تقريرا مقارنا عن الكيفية التي يمكن بها لمختلف فئات مشاريع وبرامج مؤسسات منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة أن تشمل مصالح المرأة والمسائل المتعلقة بإدماج منظور نوع الجنس في أوجه النشاط الرئيسية وعن الموارد المخصصة في هذا الصدد)٣(.
