I should now like to invite the SecretaryGeneral of the Conference and Personal Representative of the SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations, Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, to read to us a message addressed to the Conference by Mr. Kofi Annan.
أود الآن أن أدعو الأمين العام للمؤتمر والممثل الشخصي للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، السيد فلاديمير بيتروفسكي إلى أن يتلو علينا رسالة موجهة من السيد كوفي عنان إلى المؤتمر.

I would like to thank our Secretary-General, Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, whose courtesy and receptiveness I have deeply appreciated, as well as his discretion and great wisdom.
وأود أن أتوجه بالشكر إلى أميننا العام السيد فلاديمير بيتروفسكي الذي أقدر بالغ التقدير ما يتمتع به من كياسة وسعة صدر، فضلاً عما يتميز به من حنكة وحكمة عظيمتين.

كما يقدر عالياً الاهتمام الذي يوليه ﻷعمالنا أمين عام المؤتمر السيد فلاديمير بيتروفسكي الممثل الشخصي لﻷمين العام ومعاونه السيد عبد القادر بن اسماعيل بمساعدة أمانة المؤتمر.

I am also grateful to be able to count upon the able and professional support of Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, SecretaryGeneral of the CD and Personal Representative of the SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations, and Mr. Abdelkader Bensmail, Deputy SecretaryGeneral of the CD, as well as of all other staff of the secretariat.

On 10 December 1999, Human Rights Day, a round table on the 2001 World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, was held in the Palais Wilson with the participation of the High Commissioner, the then President of the Swiss Confederation, Ruth Dreifuss, and the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, Vladimir Petrovsky.
