16. On 20 April, Ambassador Francesco P. Fulci (Italy), addressed the Special Committee on behalf of the Chairman-in-Office of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE).

6. Mr. Fulci (Italy), speaking on behalf of the States parties to the Antarctic Treaty, said that the Treaty was designed to ensure that Antarctica could continue to be used for the benefit of all mankind, for peaceful purposes, and that it would never become the object of international discord.
٦ - السيد فولشي )ايطاليا(: تكلم باسم الدول اﻷطراف في معاهدة انتاركتيكا فقال إن هذه المعاهدة تعمل على مواصلة استعمال هذه القارة لﻷغراض السلمية لصالح اﻹنسانية جمعاء وعلى ألا تصبح مطلقا موضع خـلاف دولي.

Mr. Fulci (Italy) said that, in its more than 20 years of activity, the United Nations University had gained much experience in the conduct of studies and research to promote scientific progress, economic development and international peace and security.

25. Mr. Fulci (Italy), associating himself with the position of the European Union set out at the 22nd meeting by the Belgian delegation, said that he wished to add a few comments based on Italy's direct experience in the field, in Somalia and Mozambique.
