Article 8 (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Parties included in Annex C)

The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties shall define the relevant principles, modalities, rules and guidelines, in particular for verification, reporting and accountability for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in Parties included in Annex C.

60- يُحدِّد مؤتمر الأطراف العامل بوصفه اجتماع الأطراف في هذا البروتوكول المبادئ والطرائق والقواعد والمبادئ التوجيهية ذات الصلة، وبخاصة فيما يتعلق بالتحقق والإبلاغ والمساءلة بشأن خفض الانبعاثات الناشئة عن إزالة الغابات وتردي الغابات في الأطراف المدرجة في المرفق جيم.

At the same meeting, the SBI referred item 5 (a), " National communications from Parties included in Annex I to the Convention: Ongoing activities on reporting and review of greenhouse gas inventories in Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (implementing decisions 3/CP.5 and 6/CP.5) " , to the SBSTA for its consideration at the present session.

General discussions that followed addressed issues such as barriers resulting from additional costs associated with this technology, the uncertainty about caps in Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) and the lack of caps in Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (non-Annex I Parties).
