23. For the States parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, nuclear-weapon-free zones are important complementary instruments to the Treaty, which explicitly recognizes, in article VII, the right of any group of States to conclude regional treaties in order to assure the total absence of nuclear weapons in their respective territories.
٢٣ - وبالنسبة للدول اﻷطراف في معاهدة عدم انتشار اﻷسلحة النووية، فإن المناطق الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية أدوات إضافية هامة للمعاهدة، التي تقر بوضوح في المادة السابعة منها، بحق أي مجموعة من الدول في إبرام معاهدات إقليمية ضمانا للغياب التام لﻷسلحة النووية في إقليم كل منها.
